Abstract:

A solid phase extraction procedure for simultaneous separation and preconcentration of traceamounts of Cu+2 ion from various real samples prior to its determination by flame atomicabsorption spectrometry has been developed. The proposed method is based on the utilization ofmultiwalled carbon nanotube in combination with Cupferron ligand as a solid phaseextractant. The influences of the analytical parameters, including pH, amounts of ligand andadsorbent, sample volume, volume and concentration of eluent, flow rates of solution and ,interference effects from the foreign metal ions were investigated for the optimum recoveries of theanalyte ion. The optimum pH for the separation of Cu+2 ion on the new sorbent was 7.0. Therelative standard deviation (RSDs) and the recoveries of standard addition for this method werelower than 5 % and 95-100 %, respectively. A sample volume of 200 mL resulted in apreconcentration factor of 100. The proposed procedure was successfully applied to thedetermination of copper in various real samples with satisfactory results.

Determination of trace amounts of chromium ions in water and food samples using ligand-less solid phase extraction-based modified nano-boehmite(AlOOH)

Chromium is one of the hazardous pollutants in industrial effluents. In this study, a new nano-boehmite modified with sodium dodecyl sulphate is developed for preconcentration trace amounts of chromium ions as a prior step to its determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. We investigated the effect of various parameters on the recovery of the analyte ions, including pH of sample solut...

Review of preconcentration and solid phase extraction for the determination of trace Lead

Spectrometric techniques for the analysis of trace lead have developed rapidly due to the increasing need for accurate measurements at extremely low levels of this element in diverse matrices. This review covers separation and preconcentration procedures, and considers the features of the application with several spectrometric techniques. The use of an appropriate sample handling technique is a...

N-octyl-modified magnetite NPs for optimization of solid phase extraction for trace analysis of phenytoin in real samples

objective: Phenytoin is an anti-seizure medication used to treat epilepsy, as well as to control arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat) and to treat migraine headaches and nerve pain. It is recommended to determine the amount of this drug in the blood to control the seizure and prevent its toxicity. In the present study, a sensitive and simple procedure based on the dispersive solid phase extraction...

Solid Phase Extraction Using Modified Magnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for Extraction and Spectrofluorimetric Determination of Carvedilol in Human Plasma Samples

A new analytical approach was developed involving magnetic solid–phase extraction and spectrofluorimetric determination of carvedilol in human plasma samples. A plasma sample was prepared and adjusted to pH 8.2–10, then carvedilol was quickly extracted using iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles modified by the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide and determined to apply spectrofluorimetry...
